Memorial Day Parade in small town Riverside in honor of our fallen heros.

Starting the Day

A nice start to the morning is a hot cup of rose bud tea. The aroma is wonderful and the taste is a subtle rose flavor.

 Ummm.....my mouth waters, the aroma of fresh baked, crusty Marco Polo bread. The bread is warm from the oven and ready to eat.

 The first slice, I always eat the heel of the bread, I just love the crust. What a great start to of the day.

Time Slips Away

I have not written in a long while, my sister died and although it was expected it was still very sad. Time was bound up in waiting, which is always hardest for the ones left behind. Some families are drawn together and some are torn apart, mine was torn apart long before my sister drifted away. I don't expect that time will heal and bind us together again. We are separated along blood lines and it seems they cannot be dissolved. What I now have left of family is my older brother and his family, and of course my children and grandchildren. It is sad.

 On a brighter note, I snapped this of my cat the other day.

What does a cat have to do to get a drink of water?

Beautiful Moon

 What a beautiful, big moon, it was so bright on this night, March 19. I think I read that it was closer to the earth on this night than any other time this year. I stayed outside for over an hour, trying to photograph it with my Canon G9. I should have used my Nikon, but I discovered that my both my batteries was dead (how could that happen, you ask).

This was the best of a series as the moon moved through the cloudy sky.  There is a lot of noise in the photograph. But all in all, my little Cannon G9 is a treasure. I carry it with me everywhere and it has never failed me.  I also love my Nikon D300, especially when the batteries are charged!

Farm Auction

We went to a farm auction, I like to go so I can photograph all the strange things they have. Lots of the farm machinery is old and rusty, so makes for very interesting photographs. It was not the best light for taking photographs, the sun was bright and high and cast lots of shadows.

Burlington-Bristol Bridge

I have always been fascinated with bridges, and since I live near the Burlington-Bristol bridge, I have taken hundreds of photographs of it. I saw this photo opportunity on a rainy day. There was a heavy fog when I drove down to the bridge. I had my camera in a plastic bag because it was drizzling. The fog almost obscured the bridge, you can just make out faint outlines above the fence railing.

The fog hung close to the ground around these trees.

The rain came down harder and I actually got back in my Jeep for a short time. I photographed this tree through the windshield.

Then the rain slowed and the fog started to lift a little.

The bridge rose up in the sky and the fog settled down on the water.

In an hour or so the rain stopped, the sun came out and the waters was as smooth as silk.

Philadelphia Flower Show

The theme of the show was "Springtime in Paris".  This is he entrance to the flower show, representing the Eiffel Tower.

The show was beautiful. We finished the day with dinner at "The Kingdom of Vegetarians" restaurant, tired but happy.
